Have you finished getting all the gift items on your Christmas List yet? How about that “special someone”? Are you going to get them the “same ole’ same ole”…just like last year? Well, time is on your side… With a bit of homework on your part you can get them something really special this year. Here are a few tips…

a) The Boy Scouts have a motto, “Always be prepared”. This not only works for those cold nights on the camping trail, it is a good motto to have while you are compiling a Christmas List as well. Why? From this moment on, when you are around the person you plan to give a gift to, keep your eyes and ears open. This simple fact will often give you all you need to be able to ascertain that perfect gift for them. This is especially true if you happen to be in a store with them, and they are surrounded with “stuff” to buy. They will often pick something up and make a comment, such as:

“This is nice, I’ll have to keep it in mind”.

“If only I could afford this”.

“This is a great idea, but it would be better if it was in red”.

Remember to write these comments down when you get a free minute. Comments such as these are gold mines for great gift giving…

b) Does that “special someone” have a favorite hobby or pastime? Do they enjoy following a particular sports team, or partake of a particular hobby? If so, there is often something that you can get them to help them enjoy their pastime all that more. The key is, what is it? Even if you are not an expert on their pastime, there is someone out there who is. You could call up your local hobby store, or perhaps post a question on an internet forum. Ask them “what is the perfect gift for someone who enjoys “…fill in the blank…”? People love to talk about their hobbies, and I’m sure they would love to help you out.

c) Friends can be a literal goldmine of information on that “special someone”. Ask their closest friends for gift giving suggestions…but before you do, have some gift giving suggestions of your own. If you ask them directly they will often draw a blank, but by having a few suggestions of your own you can “jog their memory” a bit. It might be a good idea to bring along some photos or pictures of what you were thinking of getting. Why not cut out some pictures from an old catalog? The key is to “jog their memory”…they might have that perfect gift idea lurking in the back of their mind somewhere….

So, there you have it…some simple ideas to get you started in determining that perfect gift for people on your Christmas List. Want more specifics? How about the “Hot Items” for Christmas this year? If so, check out the blog: www.ExcellentChristmasList.com

When the leaves start to fall and the weather begins to cooler, thoughts of Christmas Gifts start to come to mind. This can be a very stressful time of year for a lot of people, but it doesn’t have to be.

The right present is hard to find. Anyone who’s tried knows this is a daunting mission. Even more so with finances being so tight for so many these days. All the time there are more and more people that need to know that they are appreciated. Friends and family are obvious, but co-workers are also a biggie. Drawing names in the office or on the job is common and its tricky shopping for an associate. This is all a source of stress and anxiety. Everyone is familiar with the panic and confusion in seeking an appropriate gift. In both price and value. Not to mention tasteful to the recipient of the present.

Everyone loves food. You may want to find out what a persons favorite dish is and cook that up and wrap a bow around it. You can bake cookies or even cakes in different shapes and use your imagination to come up with all kinds of neat looking treats. Colorful balls of tasty popcorn are given as gifts quite frequently, as are other sweets.

Getting discounts, especially during the xmas season is something a lot of people look forward to. Money can start to wear thin, pretty quickly, during this time of the year. So coming up with inexpensive gift ideas could help save you a lot of money and headaches. It’s really not that hard to do, just think outside the box a bit and all kinds of ideas might come rushing in.

Most people repeatedly hear “Christmas is a time for sharing”, and “It’s better to give than to receive”, these words may ring loud and clear all season long, but you still may be faced with buying a present for someone who just can not be pleased. If this is the case, you don’t have to put a whole of thought into what you’re giving, but there are many stores that will allow gift exchanges and returns.

Personalized gifts are always a good idea. A gift certificate for a favorite store or shopping center is always safe. A recipe book of favorite foods would also be sweet and clever. Getting things online or used but in great shape is another smart way to get a valuable or wanted item without breaking the bank. Private sales such as garage and yard sales in the warmer times of year are amazing places to find treasures. Having the gift recipient in mind helps in these situations. Shopping year round with a sharp eye for bargains will save a fortune.

Perhaps you like to paint, if so creating a special piece of art for the ones you love, could be a great idea. Spend a few bucks on a nice frame and there ya go. The same can be done with poetry. If you’re really good with your hands you may be able to mold things out of clay or shape some rocks as gifts for everyone.

Regardless of the Christmas gifts given in the holiday time of year, it should be given in the spirit of caring and appreciation. Most grown people are more about the thought and the act of showing you care rather than the actual item they receive. Kids are really the heart of the season. Children love to get all kinds of gifts and the greater the number and quality the happier they become. Its easy to remember the joy of waking up early and running to the living room to see what wonders may be waiting. When shopping for children its always wise to find out what they are into and even asking them about their favorite things or even what they might want isn’t out of line at all.

It’s more than likely that each year, you’ll be invited to be present at marriages especially as soon as the wedding season starts. We’ve seen somewhat of a haze in current years on wedding protocol, particularly the tough task of thinking about wedding gift etiquette. In fact, you might be one of the many who have inquiries about contemporary gift etiquette. Let me help you answer all your questions, so that you’ll have the ability to attain the simplest and appropriate solution to your doubts.

Inform Me About The Engagement And Wedding

Perhaps the most normal issue that I usually encounter regarding wedding gift etiquette is that, is there a necessity to offer separate gifts for the engagement in addition to the wedding? The simple reply to this is, no. One single wedding gift is actually enough. Providing an engagement gift is an outstanding thought since nearly all people consider it to be considerate and polite to give one. It is actually suggested that you give a gift if you’re going to the engagement event.

You may want to provide the bride along with the groom an engagement present from their registry and present some money during the wedding time. It is going to certainly be a right action on your part. You can definitely give something personal as your engagement gift to show your care, something you’ve selected by hand like a Waterford Crystal Bowl, or china vases or even sophisticated china. You should first have a look at the wedding registry before you buy something that is not listed there to guarantee that the newly weds will not receive various presents of the same item

How much must I spend?

One more normal question is: Just how much should I spend? There’s no solid guideline for spending. Proper wedding gift etiquette dictates that you need to think about the amount the bride and groom, or their families, are spending on you.

Usually, a wedding will cost just about $100-$150 for each guest, so you might need to spend that amount for the present. On the contrary, if you are a family of five attending the wedding, you might want to provide more In case you cannot spend a hundred dollars, simply spend whatever you possibly can provide. Your heartfelt and sincere words of congratulations plus your company in the ceremony may be seen by the newly wed couple as a really expensive present.

Do you think you’re still worried about what sort of present to bring to the wedding? Why not try a Waterford Crystal Bowl or a Crystal Singing Bowl. Either one is a high-quality selection.

Halloween is huge holiday for children. They are very excited about it from the moment that it gets closer to October. A main part of the fun is wearing Halloween Costumes. Costumes present challenges for parents. There are some basic tips to keep in mind.

Start getting ideas about what they might want to wear as soon as they start offering them. This can be as soon as the end of the previous Halloween night. This can help a parent try and coax a child in and out of ideas that they have. There are ideas that are more practical than others.

Waiting until the few days before Halloween may end up being frustrating. This frustration can happen for a few reasons. If the costume is going to come from a store that store may have run out of the type or size of costume that the child wanted.

Another reason to plan ahead is if a costume is to be homemade it will take extra time to get it right. Materials may need to be purchased and the costume constructed. Planning ahead will also help you with the other suggested tips.

Start out asking the child what they would like to be this year. The real issues now will come up. Many of these issues involve safety. Make sure that the child is able to see well.

Masks can impede eyesight. These are especially true of the style that is hard and attaches with an elastic band. The child will be doing a lot of walking and it could be in the dark. The parent has to feel comfortable that the child can see where they are going.

Another issue with walking is making sure there are not dangling pant legs and parts that can trip up a young person as they walk. Sometimes these are hard to avoid depending on the costume. Have the child try on the costume several days before the night they will wear it so the costume can be adjusted as needed. A skinned knee can hamper the fun for a child.

Cold weather at the end of October can often happen in northern climates. This needs to be planned for by the adult helping the child. One way to plan for this is to have costumes that are roomy enough to wear clothes under them. Long underwear and sweatpants are a good choice for this coverage. The child will still be able to have their costume seen and stay warm. Of course sometimes the cold will just mean a winter coat and boots have to be worn and there is not other choice.

Sometimes light rain falls on Halloween night. A parent needs to be prepared with an umbrella and a garbage bag. These should be purchased several days beforehand just in case it rains. The garbage bag needs to be big enough to go over a costume and the child.

The final practical suggestion is to make sure the child can carry their candy bag. Halloween Costumes with a lot of accessories may make this impossible. No child wants to be without candy or to spill it out on the ground. If there are two swords for a costume it will make sense for the child only to carry one.

Ronald ‘Carl’ Giles was one of the most well-known British post war cartoonists whose output appeared in the British newspapers The Daily Express and its sister paper The Sunday Convey between the dates of 1943 and 1991.

He was born Ronald Giles in Islington, London in 1916. His school-friends dubbed him ?Karlo? after the actor Boris Karloff to whom they thought he bore a resemblance. This was later shortened to Carl and it stayed with him for the remainder of his life.

He left school when he was 14 years of age and started working as an office boy for a Wardour Street film company where he was later promoted to an animator for cartoon pictures. This led in 1935 to his employment by the famous producer and director Alexander Korda on the first full-length British sound-tracked colour cartoon film, The Fox Hunt.

After a spell working in Ipswich, he joined Fleet Street in 1937. He worked as a cartoonist on the weekly newspaper Reynolds News where his efforts came to the attention of the editor of the Sunday Express and he was offered a job working for both the Daily Express and Sunday Express at the not petty salary of 20 guineas a week. His first cartoon for his new employers was published in the Sunday Express in October 1943.

The 20 guineas a week proved a portent of greater fortunes to come as by 1955 he was being paid no less than 8,060 GBP a week for an output of three cartoons. He was now a wealthy man.

In 1959 he was awarded the OBE and among his greatest admirers and fans were members of the Royal family who frequently received originals of his work.

His most famous character creations were The Giles Family who first appeared in August 1945. They were a family from the more well off side of the British working class living in a suburban semi-detached house. The head of the family was Grandma a real battle axe of a person who anyone crossed at their peril. She is now immortalised as a bronze statue standing in Queen St Ipswich looking up at the office where Giles used to do his work.

They were utilized by Giles to comment on a current events in the news of the day and proved to be highly patriotic although wary of authority. One remarkable attribute of the family was that although their homes, hobbies and clothes reflected the changing values of the day, their ages were unchanged although the cartoons ran for 46 years.

Today any middle-aged, middle class Englishman ( or woman) will have happy memories of the Giles Annual. This was a very welcome addition to the Christmas stocking and contained a assortment of Gile’s work for the previous year. For many years this collection was selected by Giles himself.

Carl Giles died in 1995 and in 2000 he was voted ‘Britain’s Favourite Cartoonist of the 20th Century’.

If you are looking to give a meaningful and lovely present to someone you love, a greeting card is the perfect idea. You will have a great selection from which to choose, and there is a theme for every single person in just about all situations. You can recognize your sibling’s birthday, an uncle’s retirement, or any other special event with a greeting card.

In the 1850′s, greeting cards became very popular because they were a cheap way to let a person know how important he or she is thanks to new printing technology. Greeting cards were sent on Valentine’s Day, and for Christmas soon after. These days, though, greeting cards are sent by people from all over the globe, as it is an established tradition to send greeting cards to family members and coworkers alike whenever a special event or holiday comes around.

Greeting cards are appropriate for many milestones and events, and whether you are 9 or 99, you will have an occasion for which a greeting card will be needed. And what’s wrong with that? What better method is there to let your friends and family know how much you love and appreciate them?

Greeting cards are available in a huge number of designs. There are cards that have photos on their fronts. Such photos are frequently famous pieces of artwork that have been reprinted onto the card. However, in certain other instances, the designs have never been seen anywhere else except on these cards, which means they are pretty special. The same goes for all other kinds of pictures that are printed on greeting cards. For instance, fine paintings have been reprinted on greeting cards, but there are other paintings that have been commissioned just for greeting cards.

Not only can you purchase greeting cards in many different patterns, styles, and colors, but you can also get them that express in words what you want to say. You can find greeting cards with poems that are reflective of the event being celebrated. Even though a lot of people like sentimental cards, you can also find birthday greeting cards, along with other kinds that are humorous and meant to cheer up the recipient of the card.

More and more, though, people are buying cards that do not say anything. Blank cards can be purchased in a wide variety of styles. However, there are no words anywhere on them. This way, you are able to express exactly what you want to say in your own words right in the card. Cards like these are very meaningful, and will often be treasured by the recipients because they are so personal.

You should carefully consider whether your recipient will enjoy a funny message or a blank card that you write a personal note in, before you purchase one. In this way, you can be sure that they will receive a greeting card that they will want to save amongst their most treasured memories. Hopefully you now understand that greeting cards are the perfect way to commemorate any event!

Kari Phelps is an expert on table number stand and greeting card stand. Over the years she has consulted numerous clients on the power of design and function of stands and racks in their stores.
