Deciding On Halloween Costumes For The Family
Fall brings with it at least two holidays that celebrate different things. The Celts called one of those days Samhain or All Saints day. We know it better as Halloween today although our attire is not all that different than the Celtic wore. Sometimes searching through Halloween costumes can be trying and even boring. We see witches, pirates, vampires and all the usual characters but you need something different for this year.
Finding the perfect outfit year after year can be challenging for most. You find the same old ones to choose from but what you really need to do is take some time and think outside the box. Sometimes it can be fun to design your own and using your imagination is a big part of that. Look at what is available at local rental stores and then think about what is missing. You could make outfits for the whole family to dress alike.
If you are choosing something for a child there are a few things to consider. You do not want something that is going to block their vision so try to stay away from anything with a mask. It is much better to use makeup than to hinder the line of sight of children.
It is advised to make sure their clothes are not so long that they can trip over them. This may mean having to hem the bottom of the clothes for safety. They can be loose enough to wear warm clothing under them but not too loose that they hang off of them. Also stay away from provocative costumes. They can send the wrong message to some people.
If accessories are needed, there is a variety of stores that offer them. These should not hang from the outfit either. They should be safe and not made of metal or glass as these could possibly be used as weapons.
If a wig is needed for their suit make sure it does not cover their face. It is important for children to be able to see to walk so keeping their vision clear is crucial. Whatever set of clothes they wear it should have some type of reflective surface. Sequins or simple reflective tape can do the trick. This will ensure they can be seen by drivers.
If you are having trouble coming up with ideas for costumes, pick up some magazines and look through them. Magazines publish a lot of trick-or-treat outfits and ideas to use. It can also help to stop by a fabric store to take a look at their patterns and material. This can give you a lot of ideas too.
This year instead of wearing the same old boring Costumes to your party, think outside the box and wear something more unique and exciting. Settling for a pirate or witch costume simply will not fit the bill this year. Use some of the imagination you have been holding back and make this holiday much more fun for you and your family. Let your creative juices flow and act on them.
