Setting Some People Right With Funny Christmas T-Shirts!
Do you know what it’s like being a Christmas fanatic and living in a house full of humbugs? It’s really freaking depressing, that’s what! They are constantly making fun of me while I’m decorating the house, putting up the tree, and playing Christmas music. Also, none of them like to help. Well, this year I’m getting them back big-time with a little funny Christmas t-shirts prank I have cooked up.
We typically have a very strict rule that gifts can’t be touched until everyone is awake on Christmas morning. All of that gets thrown out of the window this year, because there are only going to be three gifts under the tree. In each of those gifts are funny Christmas t-shirts and a task that must be completed if they ever want to see where I hid the rest of the gifts on the following morning.
The first gift is for my loving wife, who has always lead the charge against me during the Christmas season. She’s always much more helpful than the kids, so I’m going to go a big lighter on her. Her version of the funny Christmas t-shirts will be a grouchy monkey wearing a Santa hat. The text says, “Bah HUMBUG!” There will also be a note, explaining that if she doesn’t wear the shirt for the rest of the evening, her presents will be kept hidden until the day AFTER Christmas. I’m evil, I know.
What hurts the worse and almost feels like a betrayal is the way my son has been acting. He used to be just about as excited over Christmas’ arrival as I was, but it just isn’t the same anymore. Since he thinks that Christmas is a little kid holiday, his funny Christmas t-shirts selection is going to be the most childish shirt I can find. I’m thinking the shirt that says, “Christmas is SUPER cool!” There will also be a note saying that he has to wrap the front porch rails with holly before he’ll get any gifts on Christmas. We’ll see who’s too cool for Christmas, won’t we?
My teenage daughter is the apple of my eye. My wife and I long ago decided that rebellion is just a part of teenage life, so we’re just going to let her express herself however she needs. The result is an angry little girl who wears black lipstick and wants her nose pierced. Her gift instructions within her box state that she has to go caroling with our choir group that evening to at least three houses. She has to wear funny Christmas t-shirts while she does it, the shirt saying “Daddy’s Little Christmas Angel.” Hopefully, I can break her willpower before she can break mine.
The grand finale of the torture is going to be my little scrapbook. This practice of funny Christmas t-shirts is going to happen every year until my family at least starts acting like they enjoy the Christmas season, and I’m going to take pictures of the whole thing for posterity. Each Christmas Eve, there will be new shirts to wear and new tasks to complete. If they want to dread the coming of Christmas so badly, I think I can give them a better reason than they have now.
