You could be making one of several mistakes when decorating for your celebration.
If you think that planning an event, ritual or celebration requires little thought you would be wrong! In life, things rarely go as planned, and planning events is no different, so plan for than in your plan!
Oh, I am no genius. Do not think that I believe myself to be different or special. When I was a novice I made mistakes too! I tried to read what I could but no matter how much I read I just could not learn what I could learn by doing, so I did. I went out and got the experience.
Now as an expert, I will try to consider every little thing that can go wrong or differently and plan accordingly. Factors such as what religion the people attending will be or what someone might be feeling when they show up are important and should not be overlooked.
When a novice plans an event they may give these things minor thought, but for the most part they don’t know how to resonate with the crowd and construct the experience.
One example from my novice years was when a friend of mine wanted to get married and decided that she would try to have it nice but also try to save some money (thus hiring a novice!). The wedding was to be outside.
The plan was to have the wedding in the park to make it a cheap wedding. Afterward the reception would be in the back where we had tables all set up. We put plastic table covers on all of the tables, the kind with the paper face on them.
There was more than one purpose to have the decorative items on the tables. We needed some weight to keep the plastic table covers from blowing away and we need them to look good too.
Well long story short, the wedding went well but as it got later and the sun started to set we went over to the reception area for drinks, food and cake.
The first problem was that we were in a public park, where people like to take there dogs for walks. We had forgot to think about it earlier so some of the guests ended up with a little extra on their shoes…
Second, It was night time so the moisture from the grass and condensation built up on the plastic table covers and got absorbed into the paper on them. This made them wrinkle very much!
Thirdly, we were too cheap to adhere table skirts to out tablecloths and they was being ravaged by the wind.
Next time, we decided to only use the paper faced plastic table covers indoors or during the day, for damp conditions we used the normal plastic table covers and they look great and clean up well.
Go to Trevard.com for plastic table covers because they have fast shipping and a vast selection of plastic table cloths.
